【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthetime-to-failureofplasticpipingproductsunderconstantinternalpressureandflow.Thistestmethodprovidesamethodofcharacterizingplasticsintheformofpipe,components,andsystemsunderanyreasonablecombinationofinternalandexternaltemperaturesandenvironments,undertheproceduresdescribed.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtocharacterizethetestedplasticmaterialsorproducts,orboth,onthebasisofpressure-,orstress-rupturedatadevelopedundertheconditionsprescribed.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.

【摘要】:TheSCCWmaybepresentintheworkplaceatmospherewherethesematerialsaremanufactured,processed,transported,orused.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtomonitorairborneconcentrationsoffibersintheseenvironments.Itmaybeemployedaspartofapersonalorareamonitoringstrategy.Thistestmethodisbasedondimensionalconsiderationsonly.Assuch,itdoesnotprovideapositiveidentificationofthefiberscounted.AnalysisbySEMorTEMisrequiredwhenadditionalfiberidentificationinformationisneeded.Note18212;ThistestmethodassumesthattheanalystisfamiliarwiththeoperationofPCMinstrumentationandtheinterpretationofdataobtainedusingthistechnique.Thistestmethodisnotappropriateformeasurementoffiberswithdiameterslessthanapproximately0.25x03BC;mduetovisibilitylimitationsassociatedwithPCM.TheSEMorTEMmethodsmaybeusedtoprovideadditionalsizeinformationofSCCWifneeded(refertoPracticeD6058foradditionalinformationontheuseofthesemethods).Resultsfromtheuseofthistestmethodshallbereportedalongwith95%confidencelimitsforthesamplesbeingstudied.Individuallaboratoriesshalldeterminetheirintralaboratorycoefficientofvariationanduseitforreporting95%confidencelimits(1,3,4).1.1Thistestmethodcoversthesamplingmethodsandanalysistechniquesusedtoassesstheairborneconcentrationofsingle-crystalceramicwhiskers(SCCW),suchassiliconcarbideandsiliconnitride,whichmayoccurinandaroundtheworkplacewherethesematerialsaremanufactured,processed,transported,orused.Thistestmethodisbasedonthecollectionoffibersbyfiltrationofaknownquantityofairthroughafilter.Thefilterissubsequentlyevaluatedwithaphasecontrastmicroscope(PCM)forthenumberoffibersmeetingappropriatelyselectedcountingcriteria.Thistestmethodcannotdistinguishamongdifferenttypesoffibers.Thistestmethodmaybeappropriateforotherman-mademineralfibers(MMMF).1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletothequantitationoffibersonacollectionfilterthataregreaterthan5minlength,lessthan3minwidth,andhaveanaspectratioequaltoorgreaterthan5:1.Thedataaredirectlyconvertibletoastatementofconcentrationperunitvolumeofairsampled.ThistestmethodislimitedbythediameterofthefibersvisiblebyPCM(typicallygreaterthan0.25minwidth)andtheamountandtypeofcoincidentinterferenceparticles.1.3AmoredefinitiveanalysismaybenecessarytoconfirmtheidentityanddimensionsofthefiberslocatedwiththePCM,especiallywhereotherfibertypesmaybepresent.Suchtechniquesmayincludescanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)ortransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM).TheuseofthesetestmethodsfortheidentificationandsizedeterminationofSCCWisdescribedinPracticeD6058andTestMethodsD6059andD6056.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
